The RoleWe are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our growing building engineering team in London. As a key member of our team, you will work on a diverse range of projects, including international high-rise developments, significant adaptive re-use schemes, detailed design work, and niche architectural projects.
You will work closely with our Structures' Lead to deliver this varied portfolio and assist in the management and development of the team of structural engineers and technicians. You will also liaise with other disciplines in our team, including civil, façades, infrastructure, and bridge engineering, as well as geotechnical consultancy.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver work packages for multiple small projects within budget and to schedule.
- Communicate with clients, review and suggest scope for elements of work, assist in the preparation of proposals, and provide input to project finances.
You will be a key member of our BG&E Engineering team, where you'll strengthen our skills and capabilities and provide support to our engineering and drafting teams.
As a successful applicant, you'll have:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, ideally within an engineering consultancy or the construction industry.
- Strong first principles knowledge and understanding in structural engineering.
- Relevant design and delivery experience with reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry structures.
- Strong understanding of holistic sustainable design from a structural engineering perspective.
- Experience in the assessment and re-use of existing structures (concrete and steel, and ideally masonry and timber).
- Familiar with analysis and design software (Etabs, Strand7, Spacegass, RAPT, RAM Concept, SAFE, Mathcad, Tedds).
- Good knowledge of current building standards, analysis, and codes of practice.
- Good understanding of BIM project requirements.
