Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our global technology team at Tensar, a division of CMC, as a Geotechnical Laboratory Technician. The successful candidate will work alongside a team of engineers and scientists to conduct advanced performance testing of materials and geogrids, analyze data, and generate reports for new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to conduct advanced performance testing, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Independently manage and contribute to development projects, making decisions to progress the work.
  • Develop expertise in various technical and testing activities, including:
  • Small-scale accelerated trafficking testing
  • Large triaxial cell testing – monotonic and cyclic testing using DIC technology.
  • Creep testing using conventional, TTS, and SIM methods, to assess long-term design performance of new and existing products.
  • Contribute to new product development (NPD).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable standards throughout the entire product development and testing process.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and calibration of laboratory and testing equipment.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations for a broad audience.
  • Contribute to the generation, discussion, selection, and implementation of future development projects.
  • Interact with all relevant technical and non-technical areas of the company in an open and cooperative manner, supporting internal and external testing and research.
Requirements
  • Preferred degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering, Geology, or a science-related field.
  • 2-5 years experience in laboratory environments and/or prior experience with product or material testing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A genuine interest in science, with a proactive attitude towards learning and self-development.
  • An enthusiastic, hands-on approach to engineering due to the physical effort required to construct and deconstruct a variety of large-scale civil engineering tests.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and adaptable in an ever-evolving dynamic environment, with the ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (written & verbal), with the ability to interpret and present data/topics for a broad audience.
  • A solid understanding of Health & Safety measures.
