Job Summary

The North Thames Genomics Laboratory Hub is seeking an experienced Haematology Clinical Lead to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced levels of clinical practice, knowledge, and skills in Haematology.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake pre-chemotherapy assessment and physical examination as directed by the Haematology team.
  • Manage medications, including assessment, review, and non-medical prescribing where appropriate and in accordance with legislation.
  • Prepare accurate and concise reports, both verbally and in writing.
  • Arrange appropriate pre- and post-chemotherapy investigations as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Liaise with accident and emergency for haematology emergencies and arrange admissions if required to maintain coherent service provision.
  • Provide ACP-led medication and review clinics.
  • Act as a resource and provide teaching, supervision, support, and assessment to both doctors and nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Deploy high-level communication skills and effective communication strategies to ensure that information and knowledge is imparted sensitively according to the needs of patients, staff, and students in training.
About the Role

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of significant experience working as a registered practitioner in Haematology and/or Oncology and be willing to undertake an intensive educational on-the-job training programme to develop enhanced clinical skills.

The post holder will be required to maintain high standards of care delivery through continuing professional development, evidence-based reflective practice, and the maintenance of a professional portfolio and record of competency evidence and assessments, ensuring adherence to risk management and health and safety requirements.

The successful candidate will be expected to promote and contribute to the development of the newly introduced role within the trust, being aware of role boundaries, and comply with the NMC/HPC codes of conduct.
