Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Rotational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. As a Rotational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our therapy teams in delivering high-quality care to our patients.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting therapists and senior therapy assistants in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients using a range of therapy techniques. This will include:

  • Assisting with patient treatments as delegated by the therapist, following a treatment plan, and providing feedback on reactions and progress to the therapist
  • Treating patients individually or in a group with direct or indirect supervision in a variety of settings, including wards, gyms, and clinics
  • Undertaking skilled support work, including supervising active exercise, therapeutic handling, functional activities, passive exercise, and initial interviews
  • Assisting with the moving and handling of complex, high-risk patients in preparation for and during treatment sessions, according to patient risk assessments
  • Instructing patients and carers, providing direction and guidance on the treatment programme and progression, and promoting health and well-being
  • Encouraging patients and their carers to adopt an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence, requiring empathy, sensitivity, and effective communication skills
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Good general education to GCSE or equivalent level
  • Theoretical and practical training to NVQ II Level or equivalent experience in communication skills, administrative tasks, and health and safety awareness
  • Experience in interacting with the public or patients, demonstrating communication skills, prioritization of tasks, and an organized approach to work
  • Experience of documenting and evidencing learning
