Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Rotational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. As a Rotational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting therapy intervention given to patients, working as part of integrated therapy specialty teams, consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Assistants on a rotational basis delivering 7-day services.

Main Duties

The successful post holder will be expected to:

  • Support therapy intervention given to patients, working as part of integrated therapy specialty teams.
  • Work on a rotational basis delivering 7-day services, including weekends and extended hours.
  • Assist the therapist or senior Therapy Assistant in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients using a range of therapy techniques.
  • Undertake patient treatments as delegated by the therapist, following a treatment plan, and feedback reactions and progress to the therapist.
  • Treat patients individually or in a group with direct/indirect supervision in a variety of settings, including wards, gyms, and clinics.
  • Assist the therapist with the moving and handling of complex, high-risk patients in preparation for/during treatment sessions according to Patient Risk Assessment.
  • Instruct patients and carers, providing direction and guidance on the treatment programme and progression, and guidance in health promotion.
  • Encourage patients and their carers in an active approach to regaining and maintaining personal independence.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good general education (to GCSE or equivalent).
  • Theoretical and practical training to NVQ II Level/equivalent experience in communication skills, administrative, and task organisation, and Health & Safety awareness.
  • Experience in interacting with the public or patients.
  • Experience in a role that demonstrates communication skills, prioritising of tasks, and an organised, methodical approach to work.
  • Experience of documenting and evidencing learning.
