Overview of the Role

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to become a vital part of our dedicated team.

This position is a replacement role situated within the South East Locality, focusing on secure and rehabilitation services, which encompasses multiple inpatient units and a forensic support team. The vacancy arises due to the previous post-holder transitioning to another role within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The Consultant will be expected to engage in 10 programmed activities weekly, comprising 7.5 hours of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2.5 hours of Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). Additionally, participation in an on-call rota is required, with an extra 1 PA allocated for emergency duties. The specific responsibilities will be discussed with the Speciality Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health Services and may include:

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership for a 15-bed adult mental health low secure rehabilitation unit and oversee the 7 step-down rehabilitation beds. They will also lead discussions regarding referrals to these facilities through the single point of access gatekeeping and referral meetings.

Person Specification ELIGIBILITY Essential Criteria
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Desirable Criteria
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Qualifications Essential Criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
