About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, appraise, and provide professional supervision to junior medical staff, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care, including accurate and comprehensive recording of clinical activity.
  • Participate in the Consultant Psychiatrist on-call rota, providing 24/7 support to the team.
  • Contribute to the development of the Trust's academic program, including lectures and seminars, to enhance professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and abide by professional codes of conduct.
  • Participate in annual job plan reviews, ensuring the post is developed to meet changing service configurations and delivery.
  • Collaborate with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery and share best practices with consultant colleagues.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
    • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
    • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
    • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
    • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • Desirable:
    • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
    • MRCPsych.
    • Additional clinical qualifications.
    • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
    • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
