Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Senior Psychiatrist to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Team.

This role is a replacement position. The successful candidate will deliver psychiatric care to the South Cheshire 0-18 CAMHS team.

The psychiatrist will also be part of the on-call rota for Consultant Psychiatrists.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee, evaluate, and provide professional guidance to junior medical personnel as agreed with fellow consultants and the medical director, adhering to the Trust's personnel policies.

• Execute administrative tasks related to patient care.

• Accurately document clinical activities and submit reports promptly to the Information Department.

• Engage in annual performance reviews for consultants.

• Participate in the Trust's academic programs, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiative.

• Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and comply with the Mental Health Act requirements.

• Annually review the job plan with the clinical manager, ensuring alignment with service delivery changes.

• Collaborate with local management and professional colleagues to ensure effective service operations, contributing to management alongside fellow consultants.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

Desirable

  • Higher degree or qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • MRCPsych.
  • Additional clinical qualifications.

Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Strong knowledge in the specialty.
  • Excellent clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social perspective.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Decision-making based on evidence and experience.
  • Ability to fulfill duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.

Desirable

  • Diverse specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the role within the NHS or similar services.

Eligibility

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of appointment.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.

Desirable

  • In good standing with the GMC regarding warnings and conditions on practice.
