We are looking for a skilled full-time Senior Psychiatric Consultant to join our dedicated team at Cygnet Health Care. This role involves providing comprehensive medical oversight for a group of 14 female inpatients within our specialized personality disorder service.
The successful candidate will assume the role of Responsible Clinician, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients. You will be tasked with monitoring and enhancing the quality of medical services in alignment with GMC standards and other relevant professional guidelines.
In this position, your clinical expertise will play a pivotal role in delivering transformative treatment, supported by a Specialty Doctor and a highly qualified multidisciplinary team, including nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists.
There will also be opportunities for career advancement to Medical Director level through our structured management programs.
Key Responsibilities
Cygnet Health Care operates a 29-bed mental health facility for women, divided into two specialized wards:
- A 14-bed complex personality disorder service.
- A 15-bed acute service for women experiencing severe mental health crises.
Our approach emphasizes collaborative treatment, tailoring care to individual needs while utilizing evidence-based practices. This model promotes the well-being and functional improvement of our service users.
As the Responsible Clinician, you will oversee patient treatment plans, working closely with the multidisciplinary team, which includes Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Registered Mental Health Nurses.
You will be expected to exemplify a positive attitude, serving as a role model for patients, their families, and colleagues.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Fully GMC registered with MBBS (or equivalent) qualifications.
- Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), with Section 12 and AC Status.
- Experienced in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnostics.
- Knowledgeable about the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
- Excellent communication skills for patient assessment and documentation.
- Committed to ongoing professional development.
- Able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
Successful candidates will undergo an enhanced DBS check.
