About the Role

Cygnet Health Care is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Nield House, a 29-bed mental health hospital for women. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide psychiatric care to patients on Clarion Ward, our 14-bed complex personality disorder service for women with a dual diagnosis of personality disorder and co-morbid disordered eating.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients
  • Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans, ensuring effective implementation and monitoring
  • Assess referrals, undertake mental state examinations, and develop treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinical audits, and risk assessments to ensure high-quality care
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers' hearings, and attend hearings as required
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures

Requirements
  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in adult psychiatry and mental health diagnosis
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, as well as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients, and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
