We are currently seeking a Customs Compliance Lead UK/EU to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our operations align with customs regulations and trade compliance across the UK and EU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement customs compliance frameworks and policies to ensure adherence to international trade regulations.
  • Stay updated on global trade laws, customs regulations, and sanctions to maintain a comprehensive compliance strategy.
  • Oversee the classification and valuation of goods to guarantee precise customs declarations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and research teams to ascertain the appropriate Harmonized System (HS) codes for products entering the UK and EU.
  • Utilize expertise in trade agreements to optimize duty and tax responsibilities.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities within free trade agreements and other trade facilitation initiatives.
  • Engage with customs authorities, brokers, and relevant stakeholders to address issues and remain informed about regulatory changes.
  • Implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential customs-related challenges.
  • Supervise the preparation and accuracy of customs documentation, including import and export declarations.

Qualifications

  • Essential: A minimum of 6-10 years of experience in international trade with a strong understanding of trade compliance processes and their interaction with global supply chains.
  • Preferred: A bachelor's or master's degree in International Trade, Global Tax, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong understanding of international trade, including tariff classifications, customs valuation, and license management.
  • Familiarity with customs warehousing and IPR regulations.
  • Experience working at both national and international levels is advantageous.
  • Experience collaborating with customs authorities related to UK and EU regulations is desirable.
  • Proficiency in SAP is beneficial.
