About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Trade Compliance Manager to join our team at Koura. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of customs and trade compliance.

Main Responsibilities
  • Customs Compliance Strategies: Develop and implement customs compliance strategies and policies to ensure adherence to international customs regulations.
  • Trade Regulation Expertise: Stay informed about international trade regulations, customs laws, and sanctions to maintain a global perspective on compliance.
  • Classification and Valuation: Manage the classification and valuation of goods to ensure accurate and consistent customs declarations.
  • Harmonized System Codes: Work closely with engineers and regulatory teams to determine the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes for various products imported into the UK and EU.
  • Trade Agreements: Utilize knowledge of trade agreements to optimize duty and tax obligations.
  • Free Trade Agreements: Identify opportunities to leverage free trade agreements and other trade facilitation programs.
  • Customs Authorities: Communicate with customs authorities, brokers, and other relevant stakeholders to resolve issues and stay informed about changes in regulations.
  • Risk Management: Implement risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential customs-related risks.
  • Customs Documentation: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of customs documentation, including import and export declarations in addition to inward processing returns and approval.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 6-10 years of experience in international trade with knowledge of trade compliance processes and the interplay with global supply chain.
  • Education: Desirable: Bachelor's/master's degree on International Trade, Global Tax, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
Desirable Skills
  • International Trade Acumen: International trade business acumen including tariff classifications, customs valuation, license management, preferential origin determination, free trade agreements background.
  • Customs Warehousing: Knowledge of customs warehousing and IPR regulations.
  • National and International Experience: Desirable to have experience in working at national and international level.
  • Customs Authorities Experience: Desirable to have experience of working with Dutch and UK customs authorities related to UK and EU regulations.
  • SAP Experience: Experience of working with SAP.
