Job Title: Planning Support Officer

Triumph Consultants Ltd is seeking a skilled Planning Support Officer to join our team. As a Planning Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative and customer service support to our Development Management Team and Enforcement Team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide information and assistance to applicants and their agents throughout the planning process, including explaining planning requirements and researching planning histories.
  • Support planners and enforcement planners in receiving and validating new planning applications, cases, and other work, including downloading and scanning application forms and plans.
  • Conduct monitoring, research, and investigation to support planning decisions and enforcement investigations, including planning histories and local land charge planning information.
  • Offer practical advice to businesses in Stoke-on-Trent on planning and other Council services, and connect them with relevant resources.
  • Generate letters and reports, including decision letters, enforcement letters, and consultation reports, within legal deadlines.
  • Record technical minutes of planning meetings and monitor actions.
  • Display, replace, and remove planning application site notices throughout the city.
  • Support the preparation of Development Management Committee meetings, including preparing reports and presentations.
  • Support the processing of FOI and Cllr enquiries, including collecting and presenting information/data.
Requirements:
  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • Minimum 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context, ideally in a public sector organisation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and qualifications for a front-line, administrative, and analytical role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the planning process and planning law.
  • Demonstrated understanding of commercial and other motivations, opportunities, and constraints affecting businesses.
  • Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when collecting, interpreting, recording, and storing information.
  • General understanding of systematic performance management and improvement systems.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft packages or equivalent.
