Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medical Office Coordinator to join our team. As a Medical Office Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare professionals.
Main Responsibilities
- Greet and direct patients as they arrive for appointments.
- Deal with telephone requests and enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Process repeat prescription requests and ensure timely delivery to patients.
- Make appointments for practice patients with the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Process requests for home visits and ensure timely delivery of services.
- Take and deliver messages to healthcare professionals in a timely and efficient manner.
- Process non-NHS claim forms and private referral letters.
- Collect fees for non-NHS workers and ensure accurate recording of payments.
- Update patient computer records as required and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Inform patients of the results of test and investigations in a clear and concise manner.
- Filing of manuscript information and maintenance of patients' medical records.
- Test the clarity of the telephone message in accordance with practice procedures.
- Secure the practice premises and set the alarm at close of day in accordance with practice procedures.
- Receive specimens from patients and batch delivery to collection point.

Requirements
- A positive can-do attitude together with good team working.
- A background in general practice reception would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Call centre experience will be an advantage.
- A commitment to a full 2 week training programme will be required on acceptance of this role.
- The post holder will need to be flexible and able to work at short notice covering holidays and sickness.
- You must be able to reliably commute to Watford or plan to relocate before starting work.
