Palliative Care Research Coordinator

Kingston upon Thames, Greater London, United Kingdom Kingston University Full time

Position Overview

The individual in this role will oversee the daily management of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) initiatives, along with broader stakeholder engagement efforts across two distinct research projects, both under the guidance of Prof Irene Tuffrey-Wijne:
(A) "Creating effective service frameworks for Adult Palliative and end-of-life care for Individuals with Learning Disabilities (DAPPLE)", supported by the NIHR; (B) "Identifying end-of-life signs in individuals with learning disabilities who have non-cancerous or non-dementia conditions", funded by Marie Curie. The research team will include individuals with learning disabilities, who will aid in the planning and co-facilitation of these initiatives. A group of 10 advisors with learning disabilities will convene monthly in an online format. The individual will be responsible for managing the administrative aspects of the PPIE initiatives, engaging with a wider array of stakeholder groups, and overseeing social media and web content for project (A).

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication abilities and a proven history of effectively engaging with individuals with learning disabilities. They should exhibit creativity, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness when confronted with challenges. A willingness to discuss sensitive topics, including end-of-life care, death, and grief, is essential. Candidates should hold either a relevant professional qualification or a postgraduate degree; substantial relevant professional experience may be accepted as an alternative to formal educational credentials. This position requires in-person attendance.
