Communications Specialist

At Open Briefing, we envision a world where communities and ecosystems thrive in justice and equity. However, the threats of social injustice, democratic decline, and climate change challenge this vision. Brave individuals and communities who stand against these injustices often face severe repercussions from powerful interests, with many risking their lives in the process.
Open Briefing plays a crucial role in this landscape. We empower and support those who resist and build resilience against oppressive forces. Our international team has provided extensive assistance to activists and advocates under threat, offering over 4,600 hours of direct support across 93 countries last year alone.
In addition to direct support, we offer consultancy and advisory services to nonprofits and foundations that are committed to fostering grassroots change, helping them navigate the right risks. We equip our partners with enhanced security risk management, information security, and staff wellbeing practices, often acting as both a trusted ally and a critical friend.
We have a history of protecting high-profile activists and organizations, but much of our work focuses on ordinary individuals and communities who challenge power. For over 13 years, we have collaborated towards a brighter future, and we are expanding our diverse, motivated, and purpose-driven team.
