Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. as a temporary assignment. The successful candidate will work closely with a Local Authority in London to assist with the appointment of an Environmental Health Officer on a 3-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Environmental Health Policies: Utilize specialist technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard standards relating to people's health and wellbeing, contributing to the delivery of the council's objectives and priorities.
  • Conduct Routine and Unplanned Visits and Inspections: Ensure compliance with legislation, taking action to improve conditions, and conducting interviews as part of the inspection process.
  • Investigate Complaints and Provide Advice: Respond to complaints from the general public, providing advice and assistance to householders and businesses.
  • Education, Advice, and Enforcement: Give talks at public enquiries, meetings, and exhibitions, ensuring compliance through education, advice, and enforcement.
  • Take Enforcement Action: Initiate legal proceedings, prepare and give evidence in court.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications and Experience: Further qualification in environmental health disciplines, 2 A levels, and 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English), a degree or diploma in environmental health or a relevant qualification, completion of practical training, and work experience in environmental health or a related field.
  • Availability and Eligibility: Be available to work immediately or at short notice and have the right to work in the UK.
