We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Brackenberry Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be working closely with a Local Authority in Westminster to assist with the appointment of a Environmental Health Officer, on a 2-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • To improve the lives of those who work, live, and visit our communities through the application of your specialist environmental health knowledge, skills, and powers.
  • To respond to concerns from our communities, quickly and effectively, prioritizing those that will have the highest risk and impact, providing excellent customer service that understands people's needs and concerns and resolves complex and recurring complaints.
  • To proactively identify areas of risk to the public, educating others on the impact of their actions and, where necessary, using your enforcement powers to stop behavior.
  • To deliver a positive and proactive approach to ensuring compliance, helping businesses and individuals understand and meet regulatory requirements.
  • To provide expert advice and guidance to businesses, residents, and visitors, ensuring the highest levels of public health and reducing inequalities.

**Requirements:**

  • Experience of working in a relevant environmental health discipline would be highly desirable.
  • Experience of responding to complaints from the public, stakeholders, and public elected members, both in writing and in person, with respect to environmental health disciplines.
  • Experience of delivering a customer-facing role, with the ability to build trusted relationships quickly and de-escalate conflict, providing education and advice and using regulatory powers to effect change.
