About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a key role in promoting public health and safety in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and guidance on living with COVID, including infection control, ventilation, and risk assessments.
  • Promote vaccine and booster uptake, as well as other public health messaging, by visiting businesses and providing support and guidance.
  • Support and guide businesses on the Healthy Catering Commitment and compliance with the High Fat, Salt, and Sugars legislation.
  • Promote the Borough's School Superzones, a concentrated effort to increase the offer of nutritious food in food business operators, to give children a healthier start in life.
  • Identify and provide advice to shisha cafes, provide support to businesses on food hygiene and food standards interventions, share smoking cessation offers, and provide advice and guidance on single-use plastics legislation.
  • Monitor and enforce licensing compliance, undertaking food hygiene and food standards inspections as directed.
Requirements
  • Wide experience of the remit of an Environmental Health service.
  • Competency as required by the Food Law Code of Practice.
  • Ability to audit and maintain current members of the Healthy Catering Commitment scheme and encourage new businesses to join.
  • Understanding of the High Fat, Salt, and Sugars legislation and ability to provide advice to businesses on this subject.
  • Experience of being reactive to food and safety service requests and undertaking investigations.
  • Organized, diligent, and flexible with excellent record-keeping and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, with an eye for detail, and be comfortable working independently under pressure and with changing priorities.
