Canterbury, Kent, United Kingdom EKC Group Full time

Overview of the Position

Engineers, Technicians, and Machinists: embark on a rewarding journey in the field of education

If you possess expertise in a different engineering sector, we are eager to explore how your knowledge can be adapted to educate our learners.

This opportunity serves as an excellent starting point for your career in education, and prior experience in teaching is not a prerequisite.

Should you lack a teaching credential, we are committed to supporting you in acquiring the necessary skills to instruct. We will facilitate your training and allocate time during your workweek for you to obtain the qualification. For further details, please refer to our Teaching Academy page.

Working in Further Education differs from a secondary school environment; you will be assisting adults and young individuals in hands-on settings and machine workshops equipped with lathes, CNC, and Milling Machines.

What does a typical day entail?

You will offer educational and technical assistance to both staff and students, performing assessment and quality assurance tasks. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders and management. You will provide constructive feedback to students to facilitate their progression and success. You will oversee inventory management, including ordering and distributing supplies.

In addition to prioritizing an exceptional student experience, we also emphasize the well-being of our employees. Here are some of the benefits of working with EKC Group:

Competitive remuneration and vacation benefits If you are new to teaching, you will receive a £7000 investment in your teacher training upon transitioning from industry Access to numerous online discounts through our Rewards Scheme (including Restaurants, Groceries, Retail, Gym, and Holidays) Opportunities for cycle-to-work, car leasing, and technology purchasing schemes Generous pension plan with a 28% employer contribution Being part of an organization committed to Eco-Sustainability and achieving Net-Zero Time off for significant life events such as your child's first day at school, relocating, and attending interviews My 10 Days initiative - apply for up to 10 days off to engage in volunteer work Participation in Community Days and an Annual Staff Celebration Day

About You

You will be organized and innovative, capable of planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons. A level 3 qualification in your engineering field is required. With your engineering expertise, you can evaluate and monitor students' progress, enabling you to plan necessary interventions. You will ensure that all students acquire the skills essential for their success. If you are not a certified teacher, experience in delivering training in a professional setting is preferred, though not mandatory as training will be provided. A positive attitude and empathy towards learners are essential qualities.

The ideal candidate will be equipped to teach a variety of designated study programs and/or courses ranging from Level 1 to Level 3 and will inspire learners to achieve their educational goals.

Our application process is straightforward, and an up-to-date CV is not required. Click Apply today, and we will reach out to you once the application period concludes.

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer roles. All candidates will commence at the introductory salary scale point unless specific criteria are met. Employees may advance on the salary scale after completing one full academic year of teaching with our group, subject to approval. Therefore, internal candidates may qualify for the higher salary scale, but should seek clarification.
