As a Skills Practitioner you will provide Learning/Technical support to staff and students within the Engineering and Building Services Departments and to undertake assessment and quality assurance duties as required by the College and awarding bodies.

In your role as a Skills Practitioner you will liaise with internal and external customers/stakeholders as necessary or required, provide feedback to students that will aid successful progression and achievement and stock control, to include ordering and issuing of supplies.

And if you're interested in progressing into a teaching position in the future, we'll support you in your training and give you time during your working week to get the qualification.

Working in Further Education isn't the same as working in a secondary school, you'll be supporting adults and young people alike in a practical environment/machine workshops with lathes, CNC and Milling Machines.

What does a typical day look like?

  • You'll provide learning/technical support to staff and students, undertaking assessment and quality checking duties.
  • You'll be liaising with internal and external customers and managers.
  • You'll be providing feedback to students that will aid successful progression and achievement.
  • You'll manage stock control, ordering and issuing of supplies.

About You

You'll be working with young people and adults to achieve their full potential aligned with the culture and ethos of the Group.

We're looking for someone with excellent communication, organisation and efficiency skills and can facilitate learners on tasks.
You will also provide demonstrations to the class to aid the delivery of outstanding provision.

Industry experience is required and it would be advantageous to have a level 2/3 in an engineering machine shop discipline.

Some training and CPD can be provided but a good knowledge of the industry is desirable.

Some other responsibilities will be Instilling and upholding strong Health & Safety standards in practical environments as well as purchasing resources and materials within budget.
