About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Specialist to join our team at Howden Group Holdings. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of data rights processes, including subject access requests (SARs) from start to finish.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present complaints quality assurance (QA) metrics for regular reviews with senior management and the board.
  • Liaise with the claims department to ensure timely and effective complaint reviews.
  • Participate in meetings with third-party administrators (TPAs) and Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) reviews.
  • Log and respond to subject access requests, maintain and update the log, prepare reports, and liaise with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) at DUAL.
  • Compile data protection metrics to report to the DPO on a monthly basis, including data rights and data protection incidents and complaints.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk processing that may require a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA).
  • Support the business in improving data protection controls.
  • Establish and maintain a Records of Processing Activity (RoPA).
  • Collaborate with the DPO to ensure data protection controls are embedded into systems and practices.
  • Stay current with emerging data protection risks and trends.
  • Ensure all required online and continuing professional development (CPD) training is completed as required by the business.
  • Participate in ad-hoc duties as required to maintain the smooth operation of the department.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing SARs and complaint management/oversight.
  • Able to prioritize workloads effectively and work to regulatory deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly understand procedural issues and implement changes.
  • Able to make quick and precise decisions.
  • Good understanding of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Good listening skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Awareness of market changes and influences that could affect the business.
