What’s the opportunity?

An exciting position has opened for a Regulatory Compliance Lead at our Avonmouth facility. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, managing, and ensuring full compliance with all aspects of food safety and legal standards for both our brand and private label customers. A significant part of your responsibilities will involve collaborating with the technical manager and site teams to enhance site systems and ensure the operational excellence of our food manufacturing facility in alignment with business goals.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensuring compliance with company, retailer, industry, operational, and legal standards.
  • Providing technical assistance to various site functions and the broader organization.
  • Managing investigations into complaints, identifying root causes, and implementing timely corrective and preventive measures.
  • Supporting the Technical Manager and stepping in as needed.
  • Leading and efficiently concluding external audits.
  • Overseeing the internal audit program to promote compliance and drive enhancements.
  • Being an approachable and proactive member of the Site Management Team, offering expertise on technical, food safety, compliance, and quality issues while contributing to wider business initiatives.
  • Developing and delivering training programs focused on food safety and quality.
  • Investigating food safety, compliance, and quality concerns, identifying root causes, and implementing preventive actions.
  • Overseeing the site's corrective action program to encourage continuous improvement.
  • Providing trend analysis and reports on key quality and safety indicators and implementing measures for ongoing enhancement.
  • Serving as the primary contact for day-to-day technical inquiries.
  • Actively participating as a member of the HACCP team.
  • Understanding workstreams and identifying critical paths from a delivery perspective.

We seek an individual with strong leadership capabilities who can take ownership of this function within Hovis. You will be responsible for your tasks and possess the ability to positively influence various stakeholders. Your enthusiasm, encouragement, and consistency will guide individuals toward specific objectives and behaviors.

What are 'must haves' from you?

  • Third Level Qualification in a relevant Food Science or Technology discipline.
  • Experience in Food Safety Management.
  • Exposure to BRC and third-party audits.
  • Strong foundation in HACCP principles.
  • Experience working with Retailers.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Auditing experience.
  • Action-oriented and energetic approach.
  • Good verbal and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in delivering training.
  • Proficient in IT.

What would be ideal?

  • Food Hygiene Level 4 certification.
  • HACCP Level 3 certification.
  • Lead auditor qualifications.
  • Experience in training delivery.
