Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a skilled professional to join our Audit team in Southampton.

As a Manager within the Southampton Audit team, you will oversee all aspects related to managing a portfolio of audit clients. You will also support Partners in both client engagements and in the administration of the group, and occasionally across the broader firm. When suitable, you may participate in special projects on an ad hoc basis.

Your responsibilities will include:

Client Engagement:

Ensure clients receive a proactive and efficient service, consistently exceeding their expectations. Collaborate with client Partners and other Evelyn Partners personnel to keep all parties informed. Conduct audit work and establish budgets, maintaining awareness of the commercial aspects of clients' businesses and their impact on our services. Organize timetables, allocate staff, and oversee the planning, review, and completion of audits and related assignments. Stay informed about compliance developments and their implications for our clients. Manage client billing processes.

Team Leadership:

Coordinate staff assignments, ensuring clarity on expectations and timelines, providing adequate training, and delivering constructive feedback. Identify and mitigate any staffing shortages or excess workloads. Ensure assessment forms are completed and feedback is provided to all team members on every assignment. Engage with junior staff to address any emerging issues. Pursue appropriate in-house and external training opportunities for personal development.

Business Growth:

Develop proposals for new business opportunities. Participate in relevant marketing events. Present at seminars when necessary. Attend pertinent client segment focus group meetings. Cultivate personal networks. Identify and explore opportunities for Evelyn Partners with existing clients.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

An accounting qualification such as ACA, CA, or ACCA. Extensive external audit experience within a professional services context. Experience working with entrepreneurial, OMB, SME, and AIM-listed clients. A proven interest in business development activities, including targeting, proposal preparation, and networking. Strong understanding of accounting and auditing standards, along with their industry-specific applications. Good insight into the skill requirements of staff at various levels to ensure tasks are assigned appropriately. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, Partners, staff, and other professionals. Previous experience in managing and motivating staff to achieve optimal performance. Strong organizational skills to meet the needs of clients, partners, and staff. Ability to monitor costs against budgets for individual clients.
