About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Bidwell Brook School, a Special School for children and young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students to access learning opportunities and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students as part of a class team to deliver pre-planned learning, care, and therapy programmes in an inspiring learning environment.
  • Enable students to access learning opportunities and achieve their full potential both educationally and emotionally.
  • Work collaboratively with the class team to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to ensure seamless support and progress.

Requirements

  • Previous experience of working with children in an educational setting is desirable, but not essential.
  • Positive attitude, enthusiasm, empathy, and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Confidence using IT systems and software.
  • Flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced educational environment.

Working Arrangements

  • Monday to Friday, 30 hours and 40 minutes per week (or 12 hours or 18 hours per week for part-time positions).
  • Term-time working, 39 weeks per year.
  • Working hours are flexible, with a 4pm finish on Tuesdays for team meetings.
