About the Role:

Devon County Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Team Leader to join our Atkinson Secure Children's Home team. As a Team Leader, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to young people aged 10-17 who have been granted a secure accommodation order by the courts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of care staff to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans to address the unique needs of each young person.
  • Work closely with other agencies to ensure the young people receive the necessary support and interventions.
  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the home, including staff supervision and training.
  • Collaborate with the management team to achieve the home's goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a secure children's home or youth care setting.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong understanding of child development, psychology, and behaviour management.
  • Ability to work with potentially volatile and abusive young people, and to perform high levels of physical intervention when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
