Sales Engineer Position

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring candidates to be able to commute as necessary.


Competitive salary of £44,000 with an annual bonus, working hours are Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4.30pm and Friday from 8am to 1pm, along with a comprehensive pension and benefits package.


As a Sales Engineer, you will become part of a renowned global engineering organization that provides opportunities for career advancement and specialized product training.

In this role, you will leverage your Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering expertise, demonstrating a thorough understanding of assembly and manufacturing processes, as well as strong estimating capabilities. A high level of commercial insight and customer orientation is essential for generating accurate quotations and proposals.

Your responsibilities will include offering technical assistance to both internal teams and external clients, engaging directly with customers to assess inquiries, and delivering appropriate technical and commercial solutions. Proficiency in sales strategies and negotiation, along with experience in costing and pricing for engineering products, is crucial.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of confidence.
  • Willingness to conduct client visits; a valid driving license is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in sales techniques and negotiation, coupled with solid commercial acumen.
  • Knowledge of costing and pricing in engineering contexts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Highly motivated with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with clients to assess technical inquiries and provide optimal technical and commercial solutions, showcasing excellent communication abilities.
  • Follow up on high-value quotations and convert them into confirmed orders, while maintaining accurate records in the customer relationship management system.
  • Prepare quotations, conduct negotiations, and perform costing and margin analyses.
  • Translate customer technical inquiries into effective valve solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Collaborate with the customer service team to manage inquiries, quotations, and purchase orders.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant export control regulations.
  • Visit and support clients and external sales teams to ensure a clear understanding of customer expectations and requirements.
  • Utilize Excel to calculate product costs based on estimates and verified manufacturing costs.
  • Assist product marketing in identifying potential new product opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a broad external network to enhance professional and technical knowledge.
  • Participate in sales exhibitions as required, which may involve travel.
