Transportation and Infrastructure Planning Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation and Infrastructure Planning Expert to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Growth and Infrastructure Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities and ensuring that our transportation systems are sustainable, efficient, and effective.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement transportation plans and policies that support the growth and development of our communities
- Work closely with local planning authority teams to ensure that transportation infrastructure is integrated into development proposals
- Provide expert advice on transportation planning and policy to stakeholders, including developers, local authorities, and community groups
- Manage and coordinate the development and implementation of major transportation projects, including statutory processes and consultations
- Collaborate with colleagues in the districts and boroughs to influence placemaking and placeshaping in development to ensure that the best schemes are delivered to create sustainable communities
- Degree level education in a related numerate, social science, or humanities subject or equivalent experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Transport (MSc or Diploma) or equivalent experience is desirable
- Significant post-qualification experience in the field of land use and transport planning or civil engineering
- Extensive knowledge of transport planning policy and practice, including knowledge of the development plan system and planning legislation
- Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills to a variety of audiences
- Good understanding of town and country planning processes, major development proposals, and highway and transportation major project implementation
- Demonstrable understanding and experience in using project management methodologies
