About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation and Infrastructure Planning Specialist to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Growth and Infrastructure Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation and infrastructure planning in our region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement transportation and infrastructure plans that align with our council's strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with local planning authority teams to ensure effective coordination and delivery of major development proposals.
  • Provide expert advice on transportation and infrastructure matters to stakeholders, including developers, community groups, and elected members.
  • Manage and oversee the development and implementation of major schemes, including statutory processes and project management methodologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the council to ensure that transportation and infrastructure plans are integrated with other council initiatives and policies.
Requirements
  • Degree-level education in a related field, such as transportation planning, civil engineering, or a related numerate or social science subject.
  • Significant post-qualification experience in transportation and infrastructure planning, with a strong understanding of transportation policy and practice.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Good understanding of town and country planning processes, major development proposals, and highway and transportation project implementation.
  • Demonstrable experience in using project management methodologies and tools.
