The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant, preferably with experience in the manufacturing sector, to ensure robust financial governance and reporting at Laing O'Rourke's Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC).

CEMC is pivotal to our dedication to offsite manufacturing, serving as the leading facility for precast products, which commenced operations in 2009. Our production includes a diverse array of components such as walls, floors, columns, beams, platforms, and bridge elements for various projects across the UK.

Current initiatives encompass significant developments, including major stadium projects and infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

The role entails the following primary duties:

· Reporting on Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow performance while preparing budget forecasts for the Group.

  • Evaluating business performance and clarifying discrepancies in budget and forecast.
  • Managing balance sheet accounts, fixed asset registers, and inventory listings, ensuring monthly reconciliations are performed.

· Conducting weekly cash flow forecasts, identifying opportunities to optimize cash flow and manage working capital effectively.

  • Performing internal reviews to ensure accurate representation of stock and work in progress in financial systems and reports.
  • Proactively enhancing financial and operational processes to provide timely and precise management information.
  • Staying informed on Accounting Standards and applying new accounting practices as necessary.
  • Assessing business risks and strategic initiatives.
  • Preparing and reviewing supporting documentation for year-end audits.
  • Compiling VAT and CIS returns.
  • Occasional travel to other offices may be required.
  • Supervising two Accounts Clerks.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and influencing abilities, with a capacity to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proven track record in a deadline-oriented environment with strong prioritization skills.
  • Experience in process development and improvement.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets, forecasts, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Advanced IT skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Power BI is advantageous.

Desirable:

  • Experience with SAP, COINs, Tagetik, and Power BI.
  • Background in a large manufacturing organization.
