The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant, preferably with experience in the manufacturing sector, to ensure robust financial oversight and reporting at Laing O'Rourke. This role is integral to our Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction (CEMC).

CEMC plays a pivotal role in our dedication to offsite manufacturing, being the leading facility in offsite precast production. The facility specializes in creating a variety of components such as walls, floors, columns, beams, platforms, and bridge elements for diverse projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

The position encompasses the following primary duties:

· Reporting on Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow performance, alongside preparing budgets and forecasts for the Group.

  • Evaluating business performance and clarifying variances in budget and forecast.
  • Managing balance sheet accounts, Fixed Asset Register, and inventory listings, ensuring monthly reconciliations are performed.

· Conducting weekly cash flow forecasts, identifying opportunities to optimize cash flow and manage working capital effectively.

  • Performing internal reviews to ensure accurate representation of Stock and Work in Progress in the system and reports.
  • Proactively enhancing financial and operational processes to guarantee timely and precise management information.
  • Staying informed about Accounting Standards and implementing new accounting practices as required.
  • Assessing business risks and strategies.
  • Preparing and reviewing supporting documentation for year-end audits.
  • Managing VAT and CIS return preparations.
  • Occasional travel to other offices may be necessary.
  • Supervising two Accounts Clerks.

Required Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced environment with the capability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Experience in process development and improvement.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical abilities.
  • Experience in budget management, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Power BI is advantageous.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with SAP, COINs, Tagetik, and Power BI.
  • Experience within a large-scale manufacturing organization.
