Accountant – Manufacturing Specialist

**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team at Laing O'Rourke, a leading international engineering and construction company. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing strong financial controls and reporting, with a focus on offsite manufacturing.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Reporting Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow performance to senior management
  • Analysing business performance and providing explanations for variances in budget & forecast
  • Take responsibility for balance sheet accounts, FAR & stock listings, ensuring reconciliations are undertaken on a monthly basis
  • Weekly cash forecasting, driving opportunities to maximise cash and manage working capital
  • Proactively identifying and improving finance and business processes to ensure fast, accurate management information is available
  • Keeping up to date with Accounting Standards and implementing new accounting treatments where necessary
  • Understanding business risks and strategies
  • Prepare and review the supporting schedules for year end audit
  • Preparation of VAT & CIS returns

**Requirements:**

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Proven experience working in a deadline-driven environment with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Experience in developing and improving processes
  • Strong financial and analytical skills
  • Experience in managing budgets, forecasts, and monthly reporting
  • Excellent IT skills – particularly Excel and PowerPoint with Power BI an advantage

**Desirable:**

  • Experience using SAP, COINs, Tagetik, and Power BI
  • Experience working within a large manufacturing company
