About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older Peoples Mental Health Inpatient Services team at Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee patients on Sandringham Ward and Hammerton Court, providing direct clinical care and supporting programmed activity.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical governance policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and high-quality patient care environment.
  • Participate in teaching and training activities, sharing expertise and knowledge with junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in research and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the advancement of mental health services and patient care.
Person Specification
  • Entry on the GMC Register
  • Approved Clinician Status
  • Section 12(2) Approved under the Mental Health Act (MHA)
  • Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST
  • 3 years or equivalent medical experience
  • 6 months experience in relevant clinical area
  • Evidence of knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex mental illness
  • A clear understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate a commitment to open review of practice
  • Effective team working
  • Leadership qualities
  • Flexibility
  • Driving Licence/able to travel independently
  • Research
  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
  • Teaching and presentation skills
