Position Title: Consultant in Geriatric Medicine at WWL NHS Foundation Trust
Organization: Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and engage with the Acute Comprehensive Geriatric Medicine team
  • Participate in specialized services including Stroke Medicine, Ortho Geriatrics, and Frailty Services
  • Oversee patient care across hospital and community environments
  • Facilitate specialized clinics focused on stroke, TIA, falls, Parkinson's disease, and dementia
  • Support proactive case management and community outreach initiatives
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and healthcare professionals

Candidate Profile:

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in healthcare management structures
  • Knowledge of Audit and Clinical Governance
  • Dedication to training and mentoring junior staff

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Dual accreditation in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine
  • Recent extensive experience in Geriatric Medicine

Professional Credentials:

  • Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT
  • MRCP (or equivalent) qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • MB ChB or equivalent medical degree

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Commitment to the development of acute medical services
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and strong teamwork abilities
