About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Ageing and Complex Medicine Directorate, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Elderly Care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert medical care to patients with complex geriatric needs, including those with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of our Elderly Care services, including the design and delivery of clinical pathways and protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of care plans.
  • Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance.

Requirements

  • CCT in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent.
  • Recent comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT.
  • MRCP (or equivalent).
  • Full GMC with licence to practice.
  • MB ChB or equivalent.
