About the Role:


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Elderly Care Medicine to join our multidisciplinary team at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our comprehensive elderly care service.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Providing medical leadership and expertise in Acute Comprehensive Geriatric Medicine
  • Leading clinical teams and participating in multidisciplinary meetings
  • Developing and implementing care pathways for elderly patients
  • Supporting training and education of junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals
  • Contribute to the development of our comprehensive elderly care service

About the Location:


The post is based at Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which serves the Wigan Borough and surrounding areas. The trust has excellent postgraduate and research facilities, supports study leave for CPD, and aids with funding up to an agreed limit.


Person Specification:


We are seeking a candidate with the following skills and qualifications:



  • CCT in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent
  • Recent comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine
  • Commitment to training and teaching junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner
  • Entry on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT
  • MRCP (or equivalent)
  • Full GMC with licence to practice
  • MB ChB or equivalent
