Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Business Software Applications Instructor to join our team. As a Business Software Applications Instructor, you will be responsible for providing effective Career and Technical instruction in the business software applications area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective Career and Technical instruction in the business software applications area
  • Assist assigned students to complete the required competencies for that trade area
  • Demonstrate effective classroom or lab management
  • Ensure that the lab is operated in compliance with all aspects of safety management
  • Maintain accurate and current student records for the assigned students

Requirements

  • Four years degree in Business/Information Technology (OR) High School Diploma with equivalent experience
  • Licensure: In addition to having a Business Management/Information Technology degree, must be eligible for a Collegiate license from the department of Education with an endorsement in business/information technology area
  • MS Office Specialist Certification is required for those who don't have a four year's degree in Business Administration
  • Must also be eligible for a teaching certificate from the Department of Education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree with a major or minor in a relevant educational field
  • Five years' experience in the related trade/field will be preferred
  • Knowledge of all phases of the trade area

Additional Considerations

  • Experience teaching adults and/or youth in a correctional or alternative education setting
  • Knowledge and experience of policy and procedures governing adult education
  • Experience of DOC institutional policies and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in correctional education classroom management

Background Investigation Requirements
