Lead Reinsurance Claims Specialist

Location: London – Flexible working options available

IDEX Consulting Ltd is in search of a dedicated Reinsurance claims expert with a strong background in handling both standard and intricate claims issues.

The selected candidate will take the initiative to manage a diverse range of standard and complex claims from the moment they are reported until they are resolved. This role requires a commitment to managing Reinsurance claims in a professional, timely, and equitable manner, ensuring exceptional service delivery to both internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will oversee reinsurance claims within a global portfolio, aligning with the organization's vision to consistently enhance customer satisfaction through a collaborative, empowered, and innovative claims process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage standard and complex lead claims within the designated authority, adhering to the established claims manual and meeting all regulatory standards while ensuring effective controls are in place and Key Performance Indicators are met.
  • Monitor potential claims arising from individual risks or global incidents, such as major catastrophes or significant losses.
  • Ensure that appropriate financial reserves are maintained for each claim in accordance with the company's Reserving Philosophy.
  • Evaluate the profitability of the reinsurance claims portfolio by comparing actual outcomes to expected results, providing insightful contributions to claims management reports, and identifying underperforming areas for discussion with underwriters, actuaries, and management.
  • Conduct regular reviews of each claim, managing them proactively to ensure timely resolution through effective diary management.
  • Deliver outstanding claims service to all clients by efficiently guiding claims to resolution.
  • Engage proactively with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring excellent communication and service to cedants, brokers, follow market participants, underwriters, actuaries, and senior management.
  • Serve as a point of reference for junior claims adjusters and assist the claims manager in their professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in evaluating and interpreting policy coverage for Reinsurance claims, complemented by strong communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of the global market as a senior claims professional.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading complex claims, facilitating market discussions, and managing both legal and non-legal experts to advance claims strategies while influencing market participants.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients, showcasing effective client management capabilities.
