Job Title: Advanced Pharmacist

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic pharmacist to join our team as an Advanced Pharmacist in the Oncology Pharmacy at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a specialist cancer pharmacy service, providing expert advice and support to patients and healthcare professionals. As an Advanced Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients with cancer, including those undergoing CAR-T therapy and ambulatory care.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement guidelines, policies, and procedures for the use of medicines, ensuring evidence-based practice and safe care. You will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating drug expenditure trends, identifying cost improvement initiatives, and ensuring all necessary funding is secured.

In addition, you will play a key role in the accreditation and peer review process for the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Unit, ensuring that best practice is undertaken to meet European requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and support to patients and healthcare professionals on the use of medicines in cancer care.
  • Develop and implement guidelines, policies, and procedures for the use of medicines, ensuring evidence-based practice and safe care.
  • Monitor and evaluate drug expenditure trends, identifying cost improvement initiatives and ensuring all necessary funding is secured.
  • Play a key role in the accreditation and peer review process for the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Unit.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement new patient pathways and improve patient care.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced Stage 1 competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework in relation to medical or surgical patients.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of clinical pharmacy services acquired while working within a suitable specialty.
  • Experience of audit and evaluative work.
  • Teaching and tutoring experience.
  • Experience of supervising others.
  • Experience of implementing change and change management.
