About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wordings Specialist to join our team at Hiscox. As a key member of our Contract Wordings team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the coverage and wordings within the Lloyd's Market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead wordings and coverage discussions on existing and new products.
  • Draft new products in plain English, ensuring the underwriting intention is clear.
  • Attend Broker and Client meetings with underwriters to provide guidance and expertise on specific coverage elements.
  • Provide extensive liaison with underwriters on a day-to-day basis to offer guidance on coverage issues and assistance with risk management.
  • Research potential coverage issues and produce reports on these findings.
  • Provide technical training for underwriters and other wordings specialists within Hiscox.
  • Represent Hiscox at external market meetings.
Requirements
  • A commercial view of products and their value to clients.
  • Confidence to make decisions on coverage, not just advise.
  • Proven wordings and contracts experience or proven experience demonstrating transferrable skills.
  • Proven contract drafting experience with the ability to create products from scratch.
  • An ability to lead and facilitate complex discussions.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • An inquisitive mind and a proven problem-solver.
  • An ability to adapt and work on a range of different wordings.
  • The ability to effectively interact with all types of people, including underwriters and other Hiscox colleagues, brokers, and customers.
  • The ability to work well both individually and in teams, who is a motivated self-starter.
  • A desire to learn and increase technical and professional skills.
What We're Looking For
  • A minimum of five years' wordings-related experience gained in an insurance, reinsurance, or law firm.
  • Excellent contract drafting skills, including sound knowledge of English grammar and sentence construction.
