About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Healthcare Support Worker to join our nursing team at the Macmillan Unit. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality care to patients with life-limiting diseases, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered care to patients, respecting their individual needs and preferences.
  • Work effectively with patients, families, and carers to promote dignity, comfort, and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans, ensuring seamless communication with the healthcare team.
  • Participate in handovers, meetings, and other team activities to ensure continuity of care and effective collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, adhering to trust policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Good standard of general education.
  • Previous experience of caring for people, preferably in a palliative care setting.
  • Basic nursing skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with people, including patients, families, and carers.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including empathy and an open-minded approach to patients.
  • Emotionally able to work within the field of palliative care.
