About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our nursing team at the Macmillan Unit. As a key member of our care team, you will provide high-quality care to patients with life-limiting diseases, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centered care to patients, respecting their individual needs and preferences.
  • Work effectively with patients, families, and carers to promote dignity, comfort, and well-being.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans, ensuring seamless communication with the care team.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with best practices in palliative care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe and supportive work environment, promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and open communication.
Requirements
  • Good standard of general education.
  • Previous experience of caring for people, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic nursing skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with people, including patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Good interpersonal skills, including empathy and an open-minded approach to patients.
  • Ability to work within a stressful environment, prioritizing tasks efficiently and effectively.
