Job Description

Job Title: Finance and Payroll Officer

Reports to: Director of Business Services

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Payroll Officer to join our team at St Michael's Catholic School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an exceptional finance and payroll service to the school.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the school's finance team and assist with financial planning and budgeting.
  • Process payroll and ensure accurate and timely payment to staff.
  • Manage and reconcile credit card transactions and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
  • Input accounting data into the accounting system and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Provide training to school budget holders on how to use the finance system.
  • Assist with external audit queries and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Plan, organize, and manage own workload to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support other finance team members with trip finance, ParentMail, and invoices.
  • Embody the St Michael's way and set high expectations of conduct.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school community and outside contractors.
  • Work well within a team and independently.
  • Comply with all Trust policies and procedures, including those relating to child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, confidentiality/data protection, and reporting concerns.

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and discretion.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
