We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of External Communications to join our team at Reach plc. As a key member of our communications function, you will play a critical role in developing and executing our external communication strategy to support our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute External Communication Strategy: Work closely with our leadership team to develop and execute a comprehensive external communication strategy that supports our business objectives.
  • Media Relations and Press Office: Manage our daily press office function, including media monitoring, and develop relationships with key media contacts.
  • PR and Events Planning: Plan and manage our PR grid, support company spokespeople with effective messaging, and advise on reputational risks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work with leaders across the business to source and develop stories that contribute to our larger narrative and advise on reputational risks.
  • Support to Head of External Communications: Provide support to our Head of External Communications on key corporate set pieces, such as annual results and corporate announcements.
  • Deputising: Deputise for the Head of External Communications when absent, acting as a point of contact for C-suite stakeholders and responding effectively to time-sensitive or sensitive issues.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Experience: Proven experience in external communications, PR, and media relations, with a strong understanding of the media landscape and trends.
  • Skills and Qualities: Excellent writing and proofreading skills, brilliant stakeholder management skills, and a demonstrable commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Business Acumen: Strong knowledge of the business and its sensitivities, with the ability to manage these within campaigns.
