About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Data Center Engineering Operations team at Amazon. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data center Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) infrastructure, ensuring 100% availability and delivering first-class customer service to our teams and groups within the data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Facility Operations and Maintenance: Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in data center sites, ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and fire safety equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
  2. Training and Support: Train and support the Engineering team in their role of providing electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations, implementing and executing site or equipment-specific training exercises.
  3. Project Management: Manage large-scale, high-impact projects, and new region support, from conception to completion, creating and delivering on key milestones, obtaining and tracking quotes for all necessary costs, and documenting project results for future implementation at other facilities.
  4. Escalation and Troubleshooting: Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region, working OT hours as needed to support site stability, performing root cause analysis of equipment failures, and troubleshooting and reporting facility and data server-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  5. Standard Practices and Safety: Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams, ensuring all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and AWS staff, and completing reports on a weekly basis.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Experience: Extensive industry-related experience with in-depth knowledge of UPS, backup generator systems, and generic mechanical-room infrastructure, with experience in leading critical facilities operation.
  3. Skills: Proficient with IT programs such as Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word) or similar, with experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities, or Mission Critical Plants/Production facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master's Degree: Master's Degree in a technical field - Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineer or equivalent.
  2. Project Management Experience: Project management experience, with ability to demonstrate key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory.
