Position Title: Quantum Innovation Sector Lead
Salary Range: £48,802 - £53,682 (Band E S2) or £59,461 - £65,407 (Band F S2) gross per annum based on experience.
Employment Type: Permanent

About the National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC):
The NQCC is a pioneering research institution funded by UK Research and Innovation, focused on advancing quantum computing technologies. Our mission is to tackle the challenges of scaling quantum systems and to collaborate with businesses, government, and academia to enhance the UK's capabilities in this emerging field. The NQCC will provide direct access to early-stage quantum machines and foster a robust UK quantum supply chain.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Quantum Innovation Sector Lead who possesses strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, alongside technical expertise in quantum computing or related fields. Ideal candidates will be proactive, strategic thinkers who can effectively address technical and sector-specific challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement the NQCC's innovation strategy to promote 'quantum readiness'.
• Collaborate with potential end users across industry, academia, and the public sector to gather insights and enhance domain knowledge regarding quantum applications.
• Facilitate the creation of new products and services through external partnerships focused on quantum computing.
• Work closely with applications engineers and the technical team to develop innovative quantum solutions.
• Manage and report on relevant projects, collaborating with programme and performance evaluation managers.
• Build and maintain relationships with research organizations, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Lead technology roadmapping initiatives for key sectors.
• Monitor developments in quantum computing and prepare analytical reports on trends.
• Conduct engagement activities to expand stakeholder networks and identify collaboration opportunities.
• Represent the NQCC at conferences and workshops, presenting findings and engaging with the community.

Essential Qualifications:
• A degree or equivalent experience in quantum computing, physics, computer science, or mathematics.
• Proven experience or broad knowledge in quantum technologies or related fields.
• Experience in stakeholder management and building strong relationships in a client-facing role.
• Background in technical research or scientific business development.
• Ability to create and manage technology roadmaps.
• Experience in managing technical projects and assessing performance metrics.
• Capability to work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Significant experience in industry-focused user engagement.
• Understanding of intellectual property rights (IPR).
• Knowledge of the global quantum computing landscape, including key stakeholders and market opportunities.
