At the forefront of technological advancement, the National Quantum Computing Centre is seeking to recruit up to 2 Quantum Innovation Sector Leads to facilitate the growth and integration of quantum computing technologies.

As a vital member of the Innovation Team, you will collaborate with applications engineers, business development experts, and other sector specialists to implement quantum readiness initiatives that focus on key themes such as awareness, engagement, evaluation, action, and advocacy.

Leveraging your technical expertise and interpersonal skills, you will spearhead the NQCC's innovation strategy, taking charge of specific sector initiatives.

Your in-depth knowledge of quantum computing will enable you to maintain a thorough understanding of cutting-edge developments and their potential applications, sharing insights that benefit the NQCC's stakeholders while fostering an understanding of end-user needs.

By working closely with broader teams, you will contribute to the creation of pioneering solutions grounded in quantum computing, aligning with our objectives to deliver scalable quantum capabilities that support our technology roadmap and cultivate a quantum-ready economy in the UK.

Key projects will encompass quantum readiness for critical industry sectors, including Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Advanced Materials, Energy, Healthcare, Security, and Bio-Chemistry.


Person Specification:
Educated to at least Degree level or possessing equivalent experience in a field pertinent to quantum computing, such as physics, computer science, or mathematics.
You will have demonstrable prior experience and/or a broad-based knowledge of quantum computing, quantum technologies, or a related discipline.
Experience in stakeholder management in a client-facing or user engagement role, with a proven track record of establishing and nurturing strong stakeholder relationships.
Experience in a technical research or scientific business development environment.
Experience in formulating and developing technology or product roadmaps.
Proven capability to manage, oversee, and report on technical projects, along with knowledge or experience in measuring and monitoring performance and impact.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while also demonstrating autonomy in your area of responsibility.
(Band F) Significant experience of innovation in a commercial context.

As part of the UK’s National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is leading a program to establish a National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).

This initiative includes a commitment of £93m over 5 years, dedicated to advancing the field of Quantum Computing and positioning the UK at the forefront of this domain.

Our primary objective is to address a critical gap in the research and innovation landscape concerning the challenge of scaling quantum computing.
