About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the National Quantum Computing Centre, a part of UK Research and Innovation. As a Quantum Computing Researcher, you will play a key role in the development of quantum computing hardware and software, working closely with our team of scientists and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of ion trap quantum computing systems
  • Develop and implement software and experimental control systems
  • Communicate progress and discuss results with NQCC scientists
  • Represent the NQCC at STFC and external events with commercial and academic partners and collaborators
Requirements
  • Achieved, or be on course to achieve, a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant field of study
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK at time of starting employment
  • Demonstrable interest in quantum science and technology
  • Experience in working in a laboratory, particularly with optics, lasers, or high-voltage supplies
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working in a team and able to demonstrate autonomy within their area of responsibility
  • Experience in programming in Python (or similar languages)
