We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Public Engagement Industrial Placement Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our team to promote science and engineering to a range of audiences, including school students and the general public.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver engaging public outreach activities, including events, workshops, and educational programs.
- Collaborate with our outreach, education, and skills team to deliver public engagement events and activities.
- Research and communicate our science and engineering through various channels, including articles, education activities, and events.
- Develop new, creative resources for scientists and engineers to take to festivals, fairs, and schools, and for remote and online delivery.
- Currently enrolled on an undergraduate degree course and returning to university/studies to complete your undergraduate degree following the placement.
- Required or have requested to take an industrial placement year.
- Have the right to live and work in the UK for the duration of the placement.
- Able to commence employment in summer 2025.
- Keen interest or passion in science communication, schools, and public engagement.
- Excellent presentation skills, communication skills, and good organisational skills.
- Demonstrate good team working capabilities.
- The willingness to learn new skills, both technical and non-technical.
- Demonstrate an interest in quantum computing.
- Enrolled on a degree course with a Public Engagement/Science Communication component or module.
- Experience in STEM public engagement or education.
- Demonstrate an understanding and the ability to explain quantum computing to a lay audience.
