Job Title: Building Safety Adviser

We are working with a leading main contractor to employ an experienced SHE Advisor with a Utilities background to drive health, safety, environmental, and quality responsibilities across the Northumbrian Water Framework. This role is on a permanent basis, working closely with the Operations and SHEQ Director to ensure the teams can achieve and sustain world-class health, safety, and environmental performance, resulting in net zero and improved sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct periodic risk assessments and implement more robust procedures when necessary.
  2. Provide specialist SHEQ advice to colleagues and subcontractors.
  3. Ensure contracts are compliant and that positive behaviours are embedded in the day-to-day works of our operational teams.
  4. Act as a single point of contact for advice and expertise on Health & Safety matters to the project teams to ensure the effectiveness of the Construction Phase Plans during the lifecycle of the project.
  5. Manage accident/incident investigations to establish root causes and communicate learning points to prevent re-occurrence.
  6. Provide independent H&S audit capability to the delivery teams for a portfolio of projects through pre-construction & construction phases.
Requirements:
  1. Experience in the Civil Engineering sector, ideally with Water.
  2. Experience in a SHEQ Advisor or similar position previously.
  3. Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors; we are looking for a team player who can add value to our operational teams.
  4. NEBOSH Diploma (desirable).
  5. IOSH.

The salary is indicative and based on experience.
